In answer to your question Sophie, john can answer it a lot more in detail, but you basically have to write a special template coding that only computer wizards like John know how to do lol. He was the one who made my template, and to this day I don't understand exactly how he wrote the code.
if you go to the "Edit HTML" section on the blog settings thingy. you'll see a whole big bunch of mumbo jumbo. look for this line

you see where it says "http://stuff.pyzam.com/layouts/img/r/o/abrocknroll.jpg" thats the picture that the backround is linking to, somewhere on the net. if you were to copy and paste that link you'd see the picture. what you need to do is somehow host a picture (I can do that for you I have a photobucket) and then replace that line with the link of the picture you want.
