Every Day

This is a song by Rascal Flatts, they are a country Christian band, and they wrote this song for their newest cd Still Feels Good. I really like it because I think that this song is directed to God and how he saves, and love us unconditionally.

You could've bowed out gracefully
But you didn't
You knew enough to know
To leave well enough alone
But you wouldn't
I drive myself crazy
Tryin' to stay out of my own way
The messes that I make
But my secrets are so safe
The only one who gets me
Yeah, you get me
It's amazing to me
How every day
Every day, every day
You save my life
I come around all broken down and
Crowded out
And you're comfort
Sometimes the place I go
Is so deep and dark and desperate
I don't know, I don't know
Sometimes I swear,
I don't know if I'm comin' or goin'
But you always say something
Without even knowin'
That I'm hangin' on to your words
With all of my might and it's alright
Yeah, I'm alright for one more night-
Every day you save my life

Is it directed to God or another person who encourages them? Cuz they say "But you always say something/Without even knowin'/That I'm hangin' on to your words" I mean, would they really say that to God? That He doesn't know when we hang on to His words?

that's a good question, and i really don't have the answer because i didn't write the song. when i heard it i just assumed it had to do with God, and maybe i'm wrong, but i'm going to continue to think of it in that way. so maybe they did write it for God, or someone else, it depends on the way you look at it.

I hope I didn't offend you by the question, someone told me that that's offensive today, but I honestly didn't mean for it to be, nor do I really see how it is. In any case, I hope I didn't come across wrong.

I honestly wasn't trying to challenge you, if that was a challenge, it should be for the songwriters. I actually asked that question as an allowance to them that maybe that's what they were talking about, because sometimes I don't know what exactly the songwriter means. I just read that line and wondered at it, and to be completely honest I at first thought of it as a thoughtless rhyme, but then I thought of the possibility that it wasn't toward God. That's the only reason I asked that question, I wasn't challenging intentionally, I just like thinking about what words to songs mean, and as I was confused there I asked.

Heh, I probably wouldn't have thought twice about my comment had not a friend called my attention to it. Hope that clears things up.
